April 13 - Around 450 people attended the exciting international conference - World At a Crossroads: Fighting for Socialism in the 21st Century - over the weekend. Many stayed on for the national conference of Resistance, socialist youth organisation, held on the Monday. Nearly 30 people attended from Wollongong, including Jay Fletcher, Jess Moore & Paola Harvey who presented talks at the conferences. It was an amazing experience in terms of learning but also for networking - with activists present from every continent around the world. While the many crises faced by capitalism - ecological, economic, political etc - were discussed at length, the conference ended on an inspiring note. There was a real optimism that if people and the oppressed unite in struggle, we can certainly change the world and put people and the planet before the needs of profit.
