Before it gets lost in cyberspace, Stuart Munckton has been flat out polemicizing on the RCTV issue. This commentary below says it all the way sometimes it needs to be said:
Unbelievable! Just when you thought the Venezuelan dictatorship couldn't sink any lower, the government and students representing organisations in support of the revolutionary process have responded to riots with calls for a debate and dialogue. The accompanying media reports on these "unbelievable" vents can be read here.
In the latest act of extreme repression and restriction on the fundamental human right to freedom of expression, the Venezuelan education minister has announced his willingness to go anywhere to participate in any discussion or debate organised by students in relation to the RCTV case.
In a further blow to what remains of a once proud democracy, Venezuela's National Assembly has not just backed calls for a debate, but has put itself up to host one. Meanwhile, puppets of the dictatorship, the Bolivarian Student Union, has shown it has no shame by going ahead and organising one. No doubt understandably fearing that once at the venue the National Guard will spring up and gun them all down, so far there has been no response from those students bravely protesting for a free Venezuela.
Our solidarity goes to those willing to strew garbage across streets to block traffic all the whilst wearing designer clothes. Now that is a real sacrifice, one that simply cannot be understood by Chavista students who can't afford such high-priced labels.
