Wristband response to the police union's blue bands in support of Chris Hurley continues to explode.

Sam Watson's initiative through Socialist Alliance to produce yellow "Mulrunji 19-11-04 Justice Now!" wristbands in response to the police union's blue bands in support of Chris Hurley continues to explode.

After media coverage in the Courier Mail, The Australian (incl a picture of Sam wearing one of the yellow bands), and in other papers across the country (and some coverage internationally), there is huge demand for the bands.

At the Dreaming Festival (an Indigenous arts festival), over 100 bands were snapped up in under an hour, with some people hugging us. Many performers bought the bands and said that they would announce the campaign at their performances - this was especially reinforced as even some police at the festival wore the pro-Hurley blue bands.

We are going to try to contact Powderfinger to get the wristbands to them.Orders have been coming fast. A Palm Islander has rung asking for 1000 bands!

We've received calls from Cairns and beyond. An Aboriginal health service worker said she sent an all staff email re the bands to the 100 staff, and at the end of the day 80 replied saying they wanted the bands!

Alec Doomadgee, Mulrunji's cousin, rang this morning saying people are calling the radio station where he works asking about the bands.

Outside Qld, orders should go to Sydney Socialist Alliance . For anyone within Qld, orders should be sent to SA Brisbane.
