The Socialist Alliance will be marching proudly at the Stop Bush Coalition's peaceful protest in Sydney on Saturday at 10am at Town Hall.
Our members have played a critical role in building this protest in defiance of the over-the-top police and state government scare campaign.
While Justice Adams yesterday ruled in favor of the police commissioner, he made it explicit that the court order does not prohibit the demonstration. The Stop Bush Coalition met last night and has decided on a different march route: from Town Hall, via Park Street to Hyde Park.
There is a strong public support for the right to protest which is why we should use the next day to let friends, neighbours and work mates know that the protest is going ahead. We are extremely happy that the NSW Firefighters and Maritime Union of Australia is supporting the protest, along with many other groups and community organisations.
We will join thousands of people on Saturday in voicing our opposition to the Howard government's Work Choices laws, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and Western leaders' hypocrisy about climate change.
If you can help get the SA contingent ready please get in touch with Trish or Brianna or Simon on 9690 1977, or myself on 0413 976 638.
Socialist Alliance members will be meeting at Town Hall on Saturday September 8 at 9am. Came along and join us there.
