Australia currently has about 900 troops in Iraq, including the 575-member battlegroup based at Tallil in southern Iraq.
Mr McClelland said a Labor government would have those troops at Tallil home by mid-year, subject to consultation with allies.
But it would leave in place other troops including the security detachment guarding Australian diplomats in Baghdad.
Also left in place would be RAAF C-130 transport aircraft and AP-3C aircraft based outside Iraq and the navy warship operating in the top of the Persian Gulf.
Mr McClelland said Labor also was prepared to consider training the Iraqi police and military outside Iraq.SOURCE
