RatbagMedia tools up

by Dave Riley

Much of the audio work -- especially recording of new material-- by the Ratbag Radio Network has been on hiatus for some time. Constraints imposed by ill health and sundries have meant that we have had to play at best a supportive production role in projects such as LatinRadical (which is in part an extension of VenSol -- our Venezuela Solidarity podcast).

Now -- touch wood -- we have relaunched Ratbag Radio upon the world wide audio web and with much verve and expect to be able to deliver an eclectic mix of both interviews ( on LeftCast) and satires (via The Blather.)

Our "new studio"

Part of this process has been an experimental retooling and above is our new recording "studio".

While the audiophilic aficionados will tell you that a recording studio has to be made up of four sound proofed walls, double glazed windows, carpeted floors... But it is often forgotten that in summer you need a cool breeze (or any kind of air) and you may be very short on the folding stuff.

Air conditioning? Whats' that!

Above is our DIY solution -- just aim your head and vocal chords into the above cubby and record the result.

But you can be the judge. With each program we'll tweak the setup and next time we'll be taking the Ratbag studio cubby for it first test record.

Since we record from the phone line rather than pc to pc we tend to be a bit of a podcasting outlaw anyway so what you hear is what we are arrogant enough to offer.

Concurrently AltMediaNetwork will sponsor and house a few partnerships over the coming months which are designed to share the broad and pod -casting good times & DIY.
